Microsoft
I’ve worked as an editorial consultant to Microsoft for nearly 14 years.
During my first six years, I developed content for millions of readers at MSN.com. I started out as a writer and producer for MSN City Guides, where I wrote articles, analyzed headline performance, and managed partnerships with Slate and The Root. Then, I went on to write copy for a number of company-wide internal communications and marketing campaigns — from books to signage to emails.
Here’s more detail on two of my biggest and most recent consumer-facing projects for Microsoft: Microsoft In Culture (since 2017) and MSN Business on Main (2008 – 2013).
Microsoft In Culture
Project: Microsoft In Culture is a site celebrating Microsoft partnerships with people and organizations who are innovating in art, music, sports, mixed reality, and social good.
I joined the team for launch in 2017 to develop a unified voice and narrative across the themes and sections on the site. This included everything from writing site copy to creating ad copy to developing article content.
Selected writing:
Sol LeWitt: Inside the artist’s life and mind
Women’s History Month: Yes she can
Billie Jean King is still pushing the game forward
MSN Business on Main
Project: As editorial strategist for Business on Main, MSN’s sponsored small-business channel that ran from 2008 to 2013, I managed a multi-million dollar budget, high-profile client relationships, an editorial calendar, a team of writers and vendors, content editing and direction, site and mobile app redesigns, new content series, copywriting for newsletters and ads, and content partnerships with WSJ and Entrepreneur.

Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center
Project: In 2015, Nasdaq opened its non-profit Entrepreneurial Center in San Francisco as a resource and educational hub for entrepreneurs. I worked with design firm BSSP to direct content strategy and write UX copy for its inaugural website. I worked with the Center over the course of a year to develop a unified voice across all communications.
In 2017, I teamed up with the Center again to help relaunch their website with fresh copy reflecting their refined mission and vision. I’ve also edited op-eds by the Center’s executive direcor for major media outlets; created copy for toolkits, banners, newsletters, press releases, and event marketing/swag; and written articles showcasing the Center’s programs.
